Outstanding Attorney in South Florida), in the area of Corporativo y Empresarial (trans. Corporate and Business Law). Although Korean-American, Katie fluently speaks, reads, and writes Spanish and she provides legal representation for her Spanish-speaking clients from Latin America, as well as those here in Florida. ACP Partner, Katie Phang, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial High School, located in downtown Miami. At this unique and first of its kind magnet school, students are provided exclusive access to the field of law enforcement with opportunities to participate in mock trials and forensic science labs. As a former prosecutor, Katie is thrilled to have been invited to be a part of this special high school program.

To educate the public and to answer the community’s questions on the current hot button topics of Florida’s Stand Your Ground law and Gun Control, Partner, Katie Phang, served as an invited panelist for a thought-provoking and informative political forum hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (Chi Psi Omega Chapter) and the Urban League of Broward County. Fellow panelists included other members of the law enforcement and legal community, as well as Daryl D. Parks, Esq., who is one of the current attorneys for the family of Trayvon Martin.

Partner, Katie Phang, has been selected to serve as the Chair of the Florida Bar’s 11th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee (“L”). The grievance committee, composed of lawyers and non-lawyers, reviews complaints of alleged ethical misconduct committed by members of the Florida Bar in order to determine whether there is probable cause to believe the attorney has violated the Rules of Professional Conduct imposed by the Florida Supreme Court. The committee also determines whether discipline against the attorney is appropriate. Ms. Phang will serve until September of 2014.

Partner, Katie Phang, recently served as an invited instructor at the Florida Association of Women Lawyers’ 2013 seminar, “Women in the Courtroom” Trial Skills for Women Lawyers, held in Miami, Florida. Along with fellow female judges and trial lawyers, Katie instructed several female attorneys on the in’s and out’s of trying a case, including examinations of lay witnesses, expert witnesses, impeachment, and closing arguments. A special thanks to Judge Gill S. Freeman, of the 11th Judicial Circuit, for spear-heading this incredible seminar!
